SARASOTA COUNTY - The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is now making crash reports available electronically through a partnership with the Carfax® Police Crash Assistance Program.

The reports are stored in a secure Carfax® database and available for purchase online. To access the reports visit the agency’s web site, www.SarasotaSheriff.org and under the “Services” tab click on Records and Reports. Users will be prompted to enter the date of the accident, report number and last name. Carfax® charges a $5.50 convenience fee in addition to the cost of the report.

Citizens can also go directly to www.crashdocs.org and scroll through the list of agencies to select Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.

Providing electronic crash reports improves efficiency by making reports accessible at any time of day, not just during business hours, and eliminates a trip to the office. Putting reports online also frees up staff time required to fulfill such requests.

Citizens, however, can still obtain crash reports in person from the Records Section, 2071 Ringling Blvd., Sarasota, from 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
