SARASOTA - It appears the Suncoast Super Boat Grand Prix will happen in Sarasota this summer. Tuesday, Sarasota County commissioners approved $79,200 to cover the sanction fee for the boat races.

The money will now come from tourism development dollars and not the general fund.

Officials with Suncoast Charities for Children, who put the race on, had previously said a lack of funding may force them to cancel the 4th of July event, but it appears the show will go on.

The race had a local economic impact of $14.2 million in 2012.
