SARASOTA, Fla. -- Sarasota County commissioners unanimously voted Tuesday to sell their half of Warm Mineral Springs to the City of North Port.

The vote came during a meeting about what to do with the landmark. The two boards recently failed to reach a consensus to find a long term operator.

The county is asking for its half of the $5.5 million it cost to purchase the property in 2010.

Following the meeting, North Port's mayor told the Sun Herald that he was against purchasing the springs because it would take money from other city projects.
