SARASOTA - A circuit court in Sarasota has ordered Congressman Vern Buchanan and his attorneys to pay a fine for not cooperating with attorneys in a lawsuit.
According the ruling, Buchanan's attorneys must pay the fine of $1,700 by Monday.
The ruling comes as part of civil case against Buchanan by a former business partner.
According to court documents, several requests had been made for Buchanan's attorneys to turn over documents, but they were never produced.
A judge ruled that Buchanan's attorneys must pay the fine and give up the documents.
Buchanan's attorneys are reported as saying it was nothing more than a misunderstanding.
