SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. - Authorities are asking the public to help stop whoever is shooting at a number of Sarasota area businesses in the overnight hours.

According to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, four different businesses have suffered damage from what appears to be a pellet or BB gun since Agust 19th.

Windows have been shot out at:

  • Hot Diggity Dog, 5666 Swift Road
  • Demetrio's Pizzeria, 4410 South Tamiami Trail
  • Davidson Drugs, 5125 Ocean Boulevard
  • Stragglers Bar, 5580 Swift Road (twice)

The latest case happened early Thursday morning.

With few investigative leads and no suspect descriptions, detectives say they need citizens to provide whatever tips they may have to help stop this crime trend. The suspect or suspects are facing multiple charges of Criminal Mischief and Shooting a Deadly Missile into a Building – both felonies.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Criminal Investigations at 941-861-4952 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers by calling 941-366-TIPS (8477), or online at
