SARASOTA - Several roads are now reopened in Sarasota after a gas line was ruptured by construction crews Tuesday morning.
Officers say construction crews from a private company were digging in the yard of a home at 1813 Boyce Street, Sarasota at approximately 8:51 a.m. Tuesday.
Construction crews hit a natural gas line 2 inches in size which was connected to the main gas line into the house. TECO, Sarasota Police Department and the Sarasota Fire Department all responded.
No evacuations were needed. A stretch of Osprey Avenue from Hibiscus Street to Boyce Street was closed while crews from TECO capped the leak and cleaned up. Boyce Street to US41 and Hibiscus Street to McClellan Parkway on Osprey Avenue were also closed as a precaution.
All roads were back open shortly before 11 a.m.
