MANATEE CO., Fla. (WWSB) - Tropical storm Hermine dumped so much water in Bradenton Wednesday that alligators were swimming down streets.
Bradenton resident Iris Adorno posted a video from her car while trying to drive down a flooded street in Bradenton. From the right side of the road, an alligator swims toward her car.
"Hey, Mama!" she yells, "I think I found a .... crocodile?"
This is why it's never a good idea to walk through flood waters in Florida.
Iris was at at 55th Ave. East and 18th Street, near her house, which is near a school.
The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for the area at about 3 p.m. Wednesday. Manatee County Area Transit service was suspended in the afternoon and will remain suspended the next day.
Authorities reported several vehicles stalled in flooded roadways and water entering homes or businesses. Evacuations began in some areas.
Public and many private schools will be closed Thursday, as well as county government offices.
