PUNTA GORDA, Fla. -- The driver of a pickup truck died Monday morning after troopers say he drove off the road and into the trees in rural Charlotte County.

Troopers are unsure exactly when the crash happened, because nobody witness it.  But sometime before 9:30am Monday, they say 42-year-old Thomas Coleman was headed westbound on Bermont Road about 5 miles west of C.R. 31.

Troopers say that for unknown reasons, Coleman's truck drove off the north edge of the road and struck a concrete culvert.  The truck went airborne and struck a 2nd culvert in front of the driveway at 37270 Bermont Road.  The truck continued into the trees and came to a stop on its roof.

Coleman was found dead at the scene.
