SARASOTA, Fla. -- We will learn more about a traffic round-about project planned for U.S. 41 in downtown Sarasota on Tuesday, when state transportation workers host a public meeting for the project.

Two roundabouts would be added on U.S. 41 at 10th to 14th streets. The project also includes islands, improved pedestrian walkways, biking areas and landscaping.

The public forum will be held Tuesday at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. There will be no formal presentation, but the public can view the designs and ask the DOT questions about the project from 5pm to 7pm.

Bee Ridge Road has 72 street lamp posts in the middle of the sidewalk which cause many of the bicycle accidents. I am a blinded veteran who has been fighting with FDOT for over ten years about relocating the posts off the sidewalk. The FDOT does not care about Pedestrian Safety. They only care about money.

When a Florida Pedestrian is killed Government Officials clang their Tea Party Cups in celebration... "Cheers to one less Tax Burden and more money for us! Yea!"
