MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A plan for a proposed dog park in the City of Palmetto appears to be moving along.
The city commission recently placed the proposed site on a list to sell it to its redevelopment agency. They want to turn the vacant property, known as Edenfield, into a dog park.
Concern has been expressed by some that say arsenic levels in the soil are too high.
The property use to be owed by CSX railroad, which used the land as a storage site, contaminating the soil.
The city would have to pay to clean up the toxic soil if excavating is done on the land.
