SARASOTA, Fla. - Former President George W. Bush is on the Suncoast Tuesday, in town for a speaking engagement.

The nation's 43rd president is speaking twice at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall as part of the Ringling Town Hall Lecture Series. Both events are sold out.

While at the first lecture, President Bush accepted a portrait from artist Morgan Davidson, a 21-year-old illustration major at Ringling College of Art and Design.

The event is not open to the media.

His daughter, Jenna Bush Hager, spoke about literacy at a dinner in Sarasota Monday night.

Bush lied to start a war and 1 million men, women, children and babies suffered through horrific deaths. Another million will live their lives blinded, burned and without limbs. To accomplish this infamous feat he had to bankrupt our country. Yet thousands of Sarasotan's give him a hero's welcome. Our nation and too many of our fellow citizens no longer know right from wrong. The America that I grew up with is gone for good. Now we're just another rouge nation.

i can't believe that he has the audacity to show his face in public. it's even harder to believe that people are paying to hear him "speak".
