SARASOTA - It's the end of an era at the downtown Sarasota post office. After 38 years of service, employee and resident flag raiser Ben Brown is retiring.

Thursday he performed that daily tradition for the last time.

For nearly four decades, Brown has raised the American flag every morning, hardly missing a day of work. In fact, he's retiring with 3,500 hours of sick leave that he's never used.

Brown says his secret to longevity on his job is simple: he just followed instructions.

We wish him well in his retirement.
