Manatee County, FL- Last month, Deputy Executive Director of Port Manatee, Robert J. Armstrong, was fired from his position following an investigation into charges of ethical misconduct.

On Wednesday, July 24th, he was officially charged with 15 counts of defrauding a pawnbroker, dealing in stolen property and accessory after the fact. According to a Manatee County arrest report, Armstrong alledgedly tried to cover up his son's criminal activities.

The son, Robert B. Armstrong,  worked for Port Manatee,  and reportedly stole items and pawned them.  Armstrong Sr.,  is said to have bought some of the items back from the pawnbroker and retruned them to the port, but never reported the crime. He turned himself into the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, and was booked in the jail.  His bond was set at $7500.
