PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - The driver of an SUV was ejected during a rollover crash in Port Charlotte early Friday morning, causing fatal injuries.

It happened around 2:15am on McCall Road near Fieldcrest Lane, just south of the Peace River bridge.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a 45-year-old Port Charlotte woman was driving eastbound on McCall when her SUV drifted off the edge of the road, striking the curb.  The driver over-corrected, causing the SUV to begin weaving before entering the median and rolling over.

The unidentified driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle and landed in the median.  She was taken to Englewood Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
