You are correct, "TalkingJars". We cannot go back and correct the parental misjudgment of making cellphones the paramount fixation that they are for everyone today, especially our youth. However, we can make our learning institutions a more effective place for learning by having cellphones turned off, or better yet, left in their lockers, while in school so as not to disrupt and interfere with the learning process. There were no cellphones when I was in school and I manged to evolve just fine. We didn't need to have constant communication with our parents while we were in the care of our schools and teachers. Come to think of it, there were no school shootings, outrageous bullying situations or other kinds of "school problems" of the magnitude that there are today. And the U.S. maintained a much higher educational performance ranking in the world than it does today. Children are out-of-control today because their parents refuse to teach them self-discipline, consideration and social manners. They are afraid their children won't be their "friend" if they say "No!" once in a while. We're down a dangerous and harmful road. I fear it may be too late to remedy. Oh well. As long everything is fun and cute, right? That's all that matters. FUN and CUTE!

Modern devices are here to stay. Taking them away is not going to happen. What would really be helpful if someone developed apps that countered these shameful apps.

Oh yes, there already is one, developed right here in Sarasota! Teach our children to grow up with empathy instead of fear.

Sadly, this app is getting no press because Bullying is the hot topic, not doing anything to fix it.

We will keep trying to inform people there is a resource, a teaching tool and protection for school children.

At what point did parents let their kids take over? This is just the latest in the ridiculousness that highlights parents abdication of their role in disciplining their children and the rest of us have to put up with all this NONSENSE. Now our educators have to disrupt the education process, waste their time and our money dealing with some asinine "app" that some sophomoric, knucklehead developed. PARENTS, grow a pair and take the cell phones from your children. They aren't adults and they make you adults look STUPID and irritate the rest of us.
