BRADENTON, Fla. – According to a scam alert from the Bradenton Police Department, apparently someone is calling people and claiming to be from the Bradenton Police Department.

The fake caller claims that the person's family member had a warrant for their arrest, and demanded a credit card number to avoid even more criminal charges.

The incident is under investigation and police say they will never call you asking for money.

Police also recommended not giving out personal information such as your Social Security number to anyone that might request it over the telephone.

If you receive a similar type of phone call you are asked to alert police by calling Bradenton Police Detective Adrian Meridan at 941-932-9300 Ext. 326.
