NORTH PORT, Fla. - Police have identified the man they say fatally shot a Venice man in a North Port home this weekend.

According to police, just after midnight on Friday night, 27-year-old Christopher Hays forced entry into a home in the 6000 block of Deming Avenue and was fatally shot by a man in the home.

Police say some people in the home knew Hays, and that it was not a random incident.

Thursday they announced that they believe the shooter was 27-year-old Joseph Catalioti of Venice.

The case is still under investigation, and further details of the shooting are not available.
