SARASOTA -Two Sarasota men were arrested Wednesday evening on drug and gun charges during a raid on a home.

The Sarasota Police Department Narcotics Unit, with the assistance of S.W.A.T. and Street Crimes Unit, executed a search warrant in the 1300 block of 24th Street in Sarasota around 5pm.

During the raid, detectives seized approximately 67 grams of MDMA (aka ‘Molly’), seven grams of marijuana, a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun, digital scales and other drug paraphernalia.

Arrested from the home were 21-year-old Earl Jones, who was charged with Possession of MDMA with intent to sell, Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and Possession of ammunition by a convicted felon. And 27-year-old Arlo Phillips, who was charged with Trafficking in a controlled substance (MDMA), Possession of marijuana (less than 20 grams), and Failure to Appear on 5 other counts.

“This is our continuation to fight and eliminate drug sales and work to decrease crimes of violence. Violent crime continues to drop in the City of Sarasota. Our officers and detectives continue to focus on violent offenders to get them off the streets,” said Deputy Chief Stephen Moyer, Sarasota Police Department.

The warrant was obtained as a result of a narcotics investigation into drug sales from the home.
