Police investigate weekend shooting in Sarasota

SARASOTA - Sarasota Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in the 2500 block of Pershing Avenue.

On Saturday, officers received multiple calls of a shooting, and shots fired at around 12:30 pm.

The victim, Wilfredo Pellot Jr., had been taken from the scene prior to the officers’ arrival. He was transported by a private vehicle to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

Pellot suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was treated at Sarasota Memorial Hospital and then transported to Blake Trauma Center for additional treatment. The injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Detective DeFrancisco at 941-954-7049.
