SARASOTA, FL. - The Sarasota Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that happened in the 2900 block Gillespie Avenue in Sarasota at approximately 9:45pm Wednesday.

According to the Sarasota Police Department, Officers in the area heard gunshots before calls came in. Witnesses indicated that a Dark Green Toyota Camry was seen leaving the area southbound toward Martin Luther King Blvd.

Responding officers discovered two homes and two vehicles with bullet holes from the shooting.  A 16-year-old male was injured in the wrist during the incident, but not by gunfire.

Officers say the juvenile was uncooperative and did not reside at the home where the shooting occurred, but was one of several subjects that had been standing in the front yard when the shooting began.

A green Toyota Camry was stopped by officers on MLK Boulevard for investigative purposes related to the shooting. Police say the vehicle had fresh bullet holes in it.

The driver of that vehicle, 20-year-old Jamille Brown, was taken to the Sarasota Police Department to be interviewed.  He was later charged with Driving Without a Valid License.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sarasota Police Department Bureau of Criminal Investigations at 941-954-7070.
