SARASOTA, FL. - A pizza delivery man was robbed Wednesday while delivering a pizza to a vacant Sarasota home.

It happened around 8 p.m. on the 4700 block of Rilma Avenue.

The victim, a pizza delivery driver, told officers he was robbed while delivering a pizza. When the victim went to the door and knocked, he told officers a black male approached him from behind and threw a clay pot at his head. The victim ducked and the clay pot grazed his head.

The victim told officers the suspect rushed him and started hitting him in the head and upper body area while kneeing him. The suspect then threatened to shoot him while pulling out a gardening trowel from his back side.

The suspect fled the area on foot after the victim gave him some cash. Officers conducted a K9 track and helicopter search with no results.

The home turned out to be vacant and appears to have been vacant for quite some time.
