PARRISH, Fla. – Many picked strawberries Saturday for a good cause in Parrish in Manatee County. Wish Farms opened its fields for the annual Strawberry U-Pick.

Families paid $5.00 to fill up a take-home crate of strawberries. Money raised from the event benefited children of migrant farmworkers and rural low-income families.

Marketing Director for Wish Farms, Amber Kosinsky, said “It shows the difficulty of farm work and appreciation for all the workers that work on the farm. It's also a great chance for families to come out into the field, pick strawberries and enjoy the day!”.

In the past the farm has raised close to $2,000 for the children of migrant farmworkers. Even with the rain, they hoped to match that amount Saturday.
