OSPREY, Fla. - A car crash Thursday afternoon injured a pedestrian and shut down part of Tamiami Trail at Blackburn Point.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, around 2:30 p.m. a black Mustang was northbound on Tamiami Trail turning left onto Blackburn Point Road and a silver Escalade was coming south.

The Escalade ran a yellow light and collided with the Mustang. The Escalade flipped and rolled onto a pedestrian who was standing at the corner.

The 41-year-old male pedestrian was Bayflited to Blake Medical Center in stable condition.

Both drivers were taken to Venice Regional to be checked but are doing okay.

Tamiami Trail southbound was briefly closed for the Bayflite helicopter, but has reopened.

Seems to me that it is tough to "run a yellow light".....they are designed to alert drivers that the light will soon become red.

How, exactly, do you run a yellow light?
