Pedestrian hit crossing Bee Ridge Road

SARASOTA - A Sarasota woman was seriously injured Friday night when troopers say she crossed into the path of an SUV and was hit.

It happened on Bee Ridge Road east of the intersection with Sawyer Road around 8:10pm Friday.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, 50-year-old Sabine Armburst of Sarasota was crossing away from a crosswalk and entered the path of an eastbound SUV.

Armburst was flown to Blake Medical Center for treatment to serious injuries.

None of the six people in the SUV were injured, five of whom are visiting from Maryland.

Charges are pending further investigation.
