SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. - People in Nokomis aren't happy with a rumored plan to demolish the community center's outdoor shelter.

Problems with homeless people camping under the shelter at night has sparked discussions of removing the shelter.

Those opposed to the demolition say that the shelter, located in Nokomis Community Park, is the largest day use shelter of its kind in the county and they don't want to lose it.

According to county officials, no decision has been made.

The county parks department is studying the Nokomis park shelter to see what needs to be done to deter homeless from camping there.
