UPDATE: Freda Rizzo has been found and is okay, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

PALMETTO, Fla. -- Authorities are searching for a 96-year-old woman with acute dementia.

Freda Rizzo was last seen Friday morning between 9 and 10 p.m. at her home in the 400 block of West 40th Court in Palmetto.

Her son Ronald heard Freda's bedroom door slide open, but when he went to check on her 15 minutes later, she was gone; he called 911. Patrol has since searched the home and surrounding area, but she was nowhere to be found.

Freda is described as 4' 11" with silver hair. Police report notes she doesn't walk well, uses a black walker, and is wearing white tennis shoes, a purple short sleeve shirt and black or dark blue slacks.

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office has taken over the investigation.
