BRADENTON, FL (WWSB) – A Palmetto man was convicted after he sent sexually explicit images to 15 and 16-year-old girls in 2015.
Police sais he used social media applications – including the popular picture and video sharing app “Snapchat” – to get a child, he believed was less than 14-years-old, to engage in sexual activity.
Law enforcement posed as a 14-year-old girl and Dorics sent a total of 34 sexually explicit images and videos to the alleged 14-year-old and solicited her sexual intercourse.
The Bradenton Police Department investigated the case involving Phillip Dorics who committed his crimes on June 1 – Sept. 21, 2015.
The trial for Dorics was held at the Manatee County Courthouse on July 10-12, 2017.
He was convicted on 19 counts of Soliciting a Minor using Electronic Services or Devices and Transmission of Material Harmful to Minors.
The lead prosecutor in the case, Assistant State Attorney Charlie Lawrence commented, “The state is pleased with the jury’s verdict and glad to see justice for the victims of the defendant’s disturbing actions. We will be seeking a total sentence of 25 years with a sex offender designation.”
However, these crimes carry a maximum sentence of 100 years.
The sentencing will be held Aug. 31.
