PALMETTO, FL. - A Palmetto man has been arrested after a domestic altercation with his 75-year-old father.

It happened Wednesday around 11:30 pm on the 8000 block of Lake Drive.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, 29-year-old Michael McGrain got into an altercation with his 75-year-old father, Francis McGrain. During the altercation, Michael battered his father causing facial lacerations. He then fled the scene on foot.

K-9 and air support responded to the scene and a search was initiated. Michael was located running through backyards a short time later.

Initially, he was cooperative, but as soon as deputies attempted to handcuff him, he began pulling away and scratched two deputies on their hands and arms. That’s when one of the deputies used a taser on Michael’s back. He was put in handcuffs and arrested.

Michael is charged with Aggravated Domestic Battery, Battery on a LEO and Resisting Arrest.
