PALMETTO, Fla. - A kindergarten student was struck by a car as they waited for a school bus Monday morning, but did not appear to be seriously injured.

It happened just after 7:20am near the corner of 11th Street West and 4th Avenue West.

According to Manatee County Schools, the Stewart Elementary School student was with its mother while waiting for the bus when the child apparently ran into the street.

The driver was not cited in the incident.

EMS were called to the scene, but did not transport the child to the hospital.  The mother stated she would take the child for treatment.
