VENICE, FL (WWSB) – The City of Venice will be hiding 10 painted rocks for people to find.
The rocks are meant to be “hidden” in plain sight in and around public buildings, parks or beaches.
Victoria Dietz, a local artist, painted the rocks with images like the city logo, the Jetties, water tower, shark’s tooth and more. The City of North Port recently hosted a rock hunting contest.
Starting the week of Aug. 7, the rocks will be placed all around Venice.
Each rock will be numbered and included the hashtag #venicerocks on each. Rock finders are asked to post a picture of the painted stone on the group Facebook page “Venice Rocks” (administered by resident Joanna Davis) before rehiding or they can also come to Venice City Hall and be photographed with their rock.
Rock finders are encouraged to rehide the painted rocks or keep them and paint their own.
Venice Public Information Officer Lorraine Anderson said, “Whoever finds them is definitely lucky!”
