SARASOTA - Suncoast residents were cleaning up at Ken Thompson Park Thursday, all thanks to a guy paddleboarding his way all the way around Florida.
Justin Riney is nearing the middle of his paddleboarding trip from the panhandle of Florida, down the west coast, and then back up the east coast.
It's being called Expedition Florida 500, and it's all designed to raise awareness about our waterways, along with the 500th birthday of the state. "It's important to get the public involved in stuff like this so they understand that these waterways are important and they understand what the issues are. And right now marine debris is a huge issue," says Riney.
He will be stopping in various cities to organize coastal cleanups, and his tour will end in Jacksonville.

Glad you were able to carry the coverage of the event, esp since I didn't see anything in the Herald Tribune. Just too bad you didn't have the right person on the paddle board .. Justin's the one in the beard and hat.. Not beachwear! Lol
