MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. - Holmes Beach commissioners have made a decision concerning what to do about a popular tree house that has sparked controversy between the city and owners.

During a hearing Tuesday on the fate of the tree house, commissioners decided the owners, Richard Hazen and Lynn Trann, must pay all fines and penalties.

The couple also must fix 30 code violations found in the structure.

If they decide to demolish the tree house, the city says the couple must file for a permit to do so.

The owners argue they only built the tree house after a former code enforcement officer told them they could do so without a permit.

No word on what the owners plan to do.

ABC 7's Trevor Shirley will have more on this story tonight on ABC 7 News at 5.
