SARASOTA, Fla. - The Baltimore Orioles have high hopes for their young, star 3rd baseman Manny Machado. But they are willing to sacrifice a little time now for the long-term in his comeback from injury.

With just a few games left in a disappointing 2013 season for the Orioles, it got even more disappointing. “Machado falls and is hurt!!" was the call by Ras announcer Dewayne Staats.

Their 21-year-old star-of-the-future got hurt on a play against the Rays, and now he continues his comeback. "It was exciting to get back out there and put the uniform to get back out there with the guys. It was good to do it," says Machado.

The Miami native is a good-fielding, good-hitting 3rd baseman who won't turn 22 until July, and the Orioles feel caution is the better part of valor at this point. “At this point, I know I have to hold myself back and be smart about the situation I am in and continue to get better."

Whenever he comes back to playing full time, Machado doesn't expect to leave again. “I’ve been doing it my entire life, and you just want to go out and do it. It just comes naturally."
