LAKEWOOD RANCH, FLA. - It takes plenty of hard work and practice to the be the best at anything. On Saturday, a group of kids in Lakewood Ranch received first hand advice from two swimmers who proved they are the best in world by winning Olympic gold medals during the London 2012 Olympic Games.

“It is an amazing accomplishment to be an Olympian and to actually bring two Olympians here and share their experience with our kids is extremely inspirational,” said Adrienne Cardwell. She invited the Fitter & Faster Swim Clinic to come to Lakewood Ranch after attending one of their events near Orlando. “We had the most amazing experience.”

Fitter & Faster accepted the invite three weeks later.

On Saturday, the Fitter & Faster brought Olympians Davis Tarwater and Claire Donahue to Lakewood Ranch. The Olympians spent Saturday afternoon sharing all kinds of swimming knowledge with the young swimmers.

“You learn so much in over a course of a career that you just want to be able to impart to kids," said Tarwater. Along with teaching the obvious basics the swimming champion shared some of the tips to help the youth reach the next level.

“But also just some of subtleties about how to prepare for races and how to properly eat well before a race.”

Tarwater told ABC 7 he still remembers being influenced by his childhood heroes as a young swimmer.

“One of the most important tools we can equip young people with is the ability to dream and the imagination to think that they can accomplish [any] goals they set.”

Olympian Claire Donahue is working hard to make the 2016 Team USA and represent our country in Rio. On Saturday, she told ABC 7 she enjoys sharing her experience with the next generation of Olympians.

“It is kind of incredible to be able to interact with them and kind of just show them what it is all about,” said Donahue.

Fitter & Faster hold clinics all across the country. Event organizers told ABC 7, they are always looking for new cities and facilities to host their events.
