Sarasota, Fla. - With 4th of July weekend now in full swing, the Suncoast's attention is turning to the Offshore Grand Prix festivities.
On Friday, Centenial Park, near the 10th St. boat ramp, will host Powerboats by the Bay beginning at noon.
At 7 p.m., the boats will start making their way down Main Street in Sarasota for the Festival of Boats Parade. The event will also feature Nik Wallenda, who will ride the lead float, in a triumphant return to the Suncoast following his high wire walk near the Grand Canyon.
Saturday, you can again catch up with the race teams and their boats at Centennial Park. The Miss Super Boat Grand Prix Bikini Contest will be held at 3 p.m. The day ends with a pre-race party and fashion show from 6 - 11 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency.
Finally, The Suncoast Offshore Grand Prix happens Sunday. It will take place in two heats, the first at 11 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. The course runs off Lido Beach between New Pass and Big Pass.
