SARASOTA, Fla. – A Bradenton man has been charged with felony carrying a concealed weapon, felony possession of rock cocaine and possession of marijuana after the car he was driving was stopped by officers.

According to the Sarasota Police Department, patrol officers stopped a car near 24th Street and Palmadelia Avenue in Sarasota. When officers approached the car, 21-year-old Tarvin Martin, Jr. exited the car and tried to walk away. Officers told Martin to return to the car and while he was walking back, officers smelled an odor of marijuana.

Martin told officers he pulled over right away because he didn’t want to go back to jail. Upon smelling the odor of marijuana, officers located a loaded ‘STAR .45cal’ handgun under the driver’s seat. The handgun had one round in the chamber along with five rounds in the magazine.

Officers also located several bullets wrapped in a sock which was located in the front passenger side door. Officers located a baggie of marijuana in the center console along with several pieces of rock cocaine. A large amount of cash was also located on Martin and was taken into property of the Sarasota Police Department.

Martin was arrested for possession of a concealed firearm, possession of rock cocaine and possession of marijuana less than 20 grams.
