SARASOTA COUNTY - Sarasota Police detectives have arrested a North Port woman they say attempted to hire an undercover officer to murder somebody.

According to the Sarasota Police Department, on Monday, 49-year-old Janeene Jones agreed to meet with a man she believed was a "hit man" to discuss in detail a person she wanted murdered.  She supplied the name, address and photo of the subject, and discussed the method of murder and the fact that the hitman would have to remove the body.

She reportedly exchanged money with the undercover officer, and discussed having another subject murdered in the near future.

She was arrested on the scene.  The North Port Police Department assisted in the arrest.

Jones was charged with two counts of Solicitation to Commit Murder in the First Degree, a Life-Felony charge.
