NORTH PORT, Fla. -- The City of North Port is working on a plan to keep Warm Mineral Springs from shutting down this Sunday.

The city manager tells the Sun Herald that North Port plans to ask Sarasota County to extend an existing short term contract for another year with the spring’s current management team.

The current short-term management agreement is coming to an end Sunday, and will result in the closing of the day spa if nothing is done.

Recently the city and county couldn't come to an agreement on a long-term management team.

A contract extension would allow the city to complete the purchase of the springs from the county.
