NORTH PORT, FL (WWSB) - The North Port brush fire is now 95 percent contained, as of May 21 around 7 p.m.
Patrick Mahoney, a Wildfire Mitigation Specialist, provided the update on Thursday morning on Twitter.
Crews are cutting fire breaks into the landscape in hopes of stopping the fire from spreading any farther. It still remains around 3,500 acres.
The wildfire began on Saturday at the RV Griffin Preserve.
Fire officials are still investigating what caused the fire to start.
