MANATEE COUNTY – It has been officially confirmed that the Suncoast will be getting its very own Nordstrom Rack Department Store.
Nordstrom Rack sells merchandise from Nordstrom department stores, but at nearly 60 percent off.
Construction for the 35,000 square-foot store is already underway, and today officials with Benderson Development confirmed that the new Nordstrom Rack will be opening next to Total Wine.
Now, with some storefronts sitting empty in the Shoppes at University Center, business owners we talked to say they are excited to have a big name store coming in. They say it will not only increase foot traffic, but also bringing other new businesses to the area.
“I'm so excited! We don't have to go all the way to Tampa anymore, it's nice to have finer shops in the area,” says Shopper Maria Wolf.
“I've heard they have very good shoes and clothes so I'm very excited to see what they have,” says Perla Augel.
Eric Huynh owns Edin Salon and Spa, and has been there for three years. "We're very excited and we're glad they have a big name store coming in to help generate more business for the shopping center,” says Huynh.
The next closest Nordstrom Rack is in Tampa.
The Suncoast store is set to open this fall.
