According to Imagine School in Lakewood Ranch's attorney Shawn Arnold, the state attorney's office will not file charges against principal Selenia Quinones following an investigation into allegations she failed to report child abuse.

Quinones has been on paid administrative leave since October. The incident in question allegedly happened in April of 2013 involving three four-year-old boys in a classroom. In July of this year, another child who was in the classroom during the incident informed his mother about what he saw happened. In turn, the mother contacted the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities looked into the claims, at which point they suggested to the state attorney's office to charge Quinones. But Friday evening – December the 6th – Arnold said no charges would be brought against Quinones.

“We applaud this well-reasoned decision and would like to thank (state attorney) Mr. (Ed) Brodsky’s office and his assistant state attorneys for the hard work and diligence they showed during this investigation,” Arnold said in a statement.

In addition, the school's governing board released its own report on Wednesday, December 4 stating that there was no evidence, nor any independent witnesses to substantiate the claim of child abuse in the classroom.

Arnold said that the school would hold a press conference on Monday, December 9 at 10 a.m. to address the matter.
