SARASOTA – Suncoast daredevil Nik Wallenda is hoping to give Sarasota a boost by high wire walking along Sarasota's bayfront.

If approved, the wire walk would begin from a crane near the Unconditional Surrender statue along the bayfront, cross over U.S. 41, then finish at the top of the Marina Tower Condo.

He hopes to do it later this month to help promote Circus Sarasota, where he's the headliner.

But Wallenda still needs approval from the City of Sarasota and the State Department of Transportation in order to make it happen.

Wallenda, who comes from a long line of family daredevils, garnered nation-wide attention in 2012 for successfully walking a high wire across Niagara Falls live on ABC.
