New College formally inaugurates its new president

SARASOTA - New College of Florida formally inaugurated its new president on Friday.

Donal O'Shea has actually been on the job for several months now, but today New College's fifth president was officially inaugurated along the Sarasota Bayfront.

O'Shea came to New College from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts and is a graduate of Harvard.

He looks forward to expanding the college's presence in the community and the world. "It's a fabulous college. I hope to make it even moreso, and it's a hidden gem, I hope to it becomes a little less hidden and takes its place among the great colleges and universities of the nation, it really deserves to be there and deserves to be better known."

O'Shea helping dedicate the school's new bell tower Friday. The Koski Bell Tower was built in the Academic Plaza of New College.
