MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. – Cell phone users that have problems with their wireless service on Bradenton Beach will soon get some relief.

An official groundbreaking took place Thursday for a new cell tower on the island. Bradenton Beach Police Chief Sam Speciale told those in attendance the new tower will help with the safety of residents, allowing the use of cell phones during emergencies.

Tower construction begins on June 16th, and will take roughly 8 weeks to complete.

Currently, Anna Maria is also looking into the possibility of installing a cell tower.
