    It was very sad news to hear about Nelson Mandela's death. I was assigned to the US Embassy in Pretoria in 1994 after Mandela took office. Ironically, I did not meet him until 2000 in Memphis when he accepted the Freedom Award. The world is a better place because he chose forgiveness not revenge. May he rest in peace.
