SARASOTA - Sarasota Police are searching for a convicted murderer they say was involved with a double shooting in Newtown on January 8th.  Another convicted murderer is already in custody for the shootings.

Joseph Lamar, also a convicted murderer, turned himself in to police Thursday for the shootings.

Police say Lamar and Rogers are responsible for shooting two people near the intersection of Lemon Avenue and 32nd Street a little after 10pm on Tuesday.

In that incident, a 22-year old male victim was transported by helicopter to the Blake Medical Center; the second victim, a 19-year old male, was treated at Sarasota Memorial Hospital for his injuries.

Investigators are  looking into possible hate crime charges, as one of the male victims is described as transgendered and was dressed as a woman.
