BRADENTON, FL-  Opening statements will begin Tuesday in the trial of a former Bradenton Police officer, charged with the murder of his wife.

69-year old Thomas Fleming faces second degree murder charges for the shooting death of his wife Claire Fleming.  In October of 2012 deputies responded to his Bradenton home where he was found siting outside.

He reportedly told the deputy he shot his wife.  A six member jury was picked on Monday.  The trial is set to begin at 9 a.m. at the Manatee County Courthouse.
