MANATEE COUNTY-- The Manatee County Sheriff's Office is taking another look into the case revolving around the mysterious death of Palmetto High School Media Specialist Patrick Mullins.
According to MCSO Spokesperson Dave Bristow, the case has gone from inactive to active. Two veteran homicide detectives will now review all of the evidence the agency has collected surrounding the death.
"I'm glad they are going to be looking into it. Maybe they will find something else they didn't find before," said Patrick's wife, Jill.
Jill Mullins and her family believe Patrick was murdered. Last January, he disappeared after taking his boat out. His body was recovered a week later in the Manatee River with an anchor tied to his waist. He also suffered a shotgun wound to the head. Many have speculated the death was a suicide.
"That has been hard to accept," said Jill. "Somebody heard something. Someone saw something. Somebody knows something."
This weekend, the family will hold the first of several fundraisers in order to raised reward money for a person who comes forward with some vital information on Patrick's death. The goal is to raise $10 thousand.
The event will take place this Saturday from 1:00pm-6:00pm at King Family Farm on Caruso Road in Bradenton. Visitors can enjoy live music, a silent auction and plenty of activities for the kids.
