EAST MANATEE COUNTY, FL (WWSB) - Four retail buildings will be built on 9 acres of land near the Heritage Harbour development at State Road 64 and Heritage Green Way in East Manatee. When all is said and done it will include around 60,000 square feet of retail space. McKenzie Dalton has lived in Heritage Harbour now for two years. She says her and her family are really looking forward to having new places to shop close by.
"There's not very much stuff over here, everywhere we have to go we have to travel," said Dalton. "So we're grateful to have something close."
Brian Kennelly, Chief Operating Officer of The Starling Group tells us their retail development will will be built right behind the Taco Bell and Dairy Queen. It will feature a Crunch Fitness Center, restaurants and many other businesses.
"The traffic pattern has changed on State Road 64, not only the residents here but kind of the convenience retail of people traveling east and west on State Road 64," said Kennelly. "The traffic has increased significantly so we feel strong demand, kind of the time is right."
With Heritage Harbour completing their build out of 5000 residential units, Kennelly tells us this retail development will be a big plus for the area. For Dalton, she says this will make life much easier for her and her family.
"It's a little bit challenging with our schedule, so when we get out we really have to plan," said Dalton. "So it's going to be nice to have something closer to home so we can get out and actually go do more things."
Ground is expected to be broken on this retail development within the next 45 days and it should be open for business by November.
