MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Two big development projects are in the works in Manatee County.
Wednesday, the Bradenton city council approved an amendment request that clears the way for a residential project to move into the design phase. The 229-acre property is located between 15th Street East and 27th Street East. It was formerly owned by Mixon Fruit Farms.
The plan is to build more than 570 new homes with commercial retail space. If things go as planned, the development could be completed within five years.
And plans for a 1,300-acre community in West Bradenton are also moving forward.
Plans were filed with Manatee County last month and the inspection process will begin soon. The development is expected to transform empty fields into a large community over the next 20 years.
The land is located from 51st Street West to 75th Street.
